Hello!
All is going great! Being a missionary is a great experience. It's hard at times and sometimes hard to understand what to do or what to say but I know it is the work I am suppose to be doing and where I am suppose to be at. Sadly this letter will be short because I don't have a lot of time and unfortunately the library was closed yesterday for some silly reason.
A lot has happened this week actually and I'm kind of sad I wont get to write about it all. But one the main things that happened was we were talking to this guy named Alfred and it was our second lesson with him. At the end of the lesson he looked at me and said that he was surprised with how much I talked that time. And that I had a lot of good things to say so he was glad that I spoke up. He also mentioned about the light he could see around us and he said that he wanted that too. It was pretty cool and I told him that I will continue to work on speaking more and he said good cause I have a gift. It was neat.
Thanks for the letters, unfortunately your plan to let me receive them on different dates didn't work out. We opened the mailbox one day and there were a ton of letters and they were all addressed to me, I felt loved ha ha. And to answer some of those things written Russell, I have still been acting that way with a missionary so know that the old me is still present ;-P ha ha and Amy I loved the picture you drew on the letter. Pretty crazy that you're going to be a grandma before your 50 huh mom ;-) didn't think that would happen did you ha ha :) Anyway I've gotta go. Once again sorry it's short and I will hopefully be able to catch you all up next week.
I love you all and I love this work that I'm doing. I know it has, can, and will bless all the lives in the world if the people would only open their hearts to the message. The church is true, the Book of Mormon is truly another testament of Jesus Christ and we really can get closer to God by reading it. As a mission we are going to finish the Book of Mormon by the end of the year and I know that it will not only bless the mission with more success but it will bless me with more success too.

Hello,
The baptism went really well. I actually was the one to baptize him :) It was pretty cool. I took pictures of us and his wife so when I send you my memory card you will be able to see that. I loved watching conference! It was incredible. There was a lot of good things that was talked about and a lot of things that helped me. I really missed watching the Priesthood session with Dad and my brothers and going out to A&W afterward though. I noticed once President Monson said that they were building another temple in Provo everyone gasped. I chuckled to myself when I heard that. I especially loved Sister Dalton's talk about raising up your daughters. Not that I have daughters right now or anything... ha ha. But it is good advice that I will take to heart when I have a family.
Thank you for David's letter. It was great to hear how he is doing. I wouldn't mind getting his email either so I could talk to him... Well the children in your house are slowly starting to move away. I'd like to think I started it all. Even though Eric moved out first, I had the idea and actual place first :) My siblings just couldn't bear living at that home without me. Too many great memories of me ha ha.
Well that's good that everyone received my letter and it had a positive effect on them all hopefully. I was really sad to hear about Tara.
Nope it's just Elder Nielson and I in the apartment but I believe soon we will move to another apartment with the Valdosta 2nd ward Elders to save some money and be more efficient. Actually that dinner appointment got cancelled cause Brother Ybarra had to leave on a business trip.
Cool story time. On Friday Elder Nielson and I were out at an appointment and we planned on riding our bikes but forgot them in the apartment so we decided to walk from one appointment to another one. As we were coming back we decided to walk back a different way and talk to people that we see. We came across a lady sitting on her porch and we started talking to her. It was an incredible first lesson, the spirit was so strong. There was a lot of background noise and distractions going on around but once we started talking about the first vision it was completely quiet. It was incredible. Towards the end of the lesson she said that when she saw us she was actually about to run inside cause she thought we were Jehovah Witnesses and she didn't want to talk to us but something told her to stay on the porch and talk to us. It was pretty neat. Her name is Ingy Franklin and I think she might be a solid investigator. We committed her to be baptized October 29th so that's pretty exciting.
Anyway I think that was the only really cool thing that happened this week besides conference and the baptism. But have fun going to Tennessee. I know you'll have a wonderful time mother. And you will get along great with the ladies you're going with.
On Tuesday I'm going on my first exchange. Elder Nielson is going up to Nashville and Elder West is going to come down to Valdosta and I'm going to be working with him. I'm a little nervous cause I'm gonna be the driver and I still don't know my way around Valdosta very well and I can't ask for help cause Elder West has never been here before. It'll all work out though.
Well I love this gospel and I love this chance I have to be a missionary and help people come closer to our Savior Jesus Christ. I'm so thankful for your great example Mom and for all the other people that have encouraged me and helped me see that right path to choose. I love you all and may God bless you abundantly. Hello Everyone
Being able to read and re-read my patriarchal blessing has been a huge blessing in itself. It's brought a lot of comfort to me knowing that as along as I do my part and stay faithful and worthy I'll be blessed in my mission work and become a better missionary and be able to talk to people easier. Yup, pretty soon it'll just be those that will never leave home, home with you ;-) ha ha. How does that make you feel? That's crazy that Uncle Bob is 50! But hey, you're getting up there too ;-P ha ha. I'm sad I'm gonna miss your fiftieth, and dad's too. At least I'll be able to call. That sounds really fun going to Disney Land with them all. How come you're doing that? And how come I never got to do anything fun like that? ha ha. Well I'm glad to know that I am loved and that lot's of people asked about me. Hopefully it's not just one person asking about me everyday, that would make me feel less loved but grateful at least one person cares ha ha. And poor Tara! I'm gonna have to write her a letter. I think she'd like that.
My week has been pretty good. We picked up a new investigator this past week. We were looking through the Area Book and found an investigator that a couple of missionaries were working with before but had to drop her cause she wasn't keeping her commitments. We went by her house and she seemed interested and she came to church yesterday with her 3 kids and one of their friends. The kids loved primary and were so happy they got to go when I was talking with them after church and Vonda, the mom, really liked church too. So I'm pretty sure she'll be a great investigator. Brother Poer is getting baptized this Saturday right before the first session of conference which is gonna be really cool! It's gonna be an awesome and very memorable day for him. Sadly his wife won't be getting baptized with him, she kind of stopped coming and listening to the lessons. But he is one solid guy. His desire to learn about the gospel is incredible. And I hope that that desire doesn't fade over time.
I don't know if I told you this before but the average weight gain for this mission is 30-40 pounds and I think that you'll be happy to know that I've.....stayed the same weight so far :D ha ha. At least I'm happy to know that. But who knows, maybe when I get back I'll be this huge ball ha ha. I've only rode my bike a couple of times which I have mixed feelings about. There are hardly any sidewalks here so we have to share the road with the cars and I'm always terrified that I'll get hit cause the cars come zooming right past us, super close too. But I really like riding my bike, it reminds me of the times I use to spend riding up the canyon with Eric, Nate and Ricky, and I want to start doing that again when I get back. Biking is great.
My companion is from Bountiful Utah and has been up for around 16 months. Getting up at 6:30 doesn't get any easier over time. I don't think it would be so hard if I had one day where I could sleep in cause I could just tell myself wait til that day and then I can catch up. But unfortunately I don't get such a date. Oh well. It's not too bad. We mostly just eat at our apt but at least twice a week we eat at a members house. On Friday we are going to a less active member's house to eat Korean food, that is where the wife is from and she doesn't have any christian background. She grew up Buddhist so it's interesting to teach her cause we have to teach so simply it's weird.

Hello!
My week was pretty good. It actually rained really hard!....for about 5 minutes. Stupid weather likes to toy with me I guess. Yeah, I believe I did. I have a lot of boxes of contacts so I'm pretty sure I got them. I didn't know Kelli was moving out. That's pretty neat. The house keeps getting bigger and bigger huh. I guess with out me there no one seems to want to stay around... ha ha. Well Kenneth Poer is super excited to get baptized. In one of our lessons his friend Mike was over, so I think we have another investigator :) During that lesson Kenneth said that if he could be baptized tomorrow he would. That was pretty neat to hear, sadly though he has to go to church 3 times before he can be baptized so we are either going to do it the 1st or the 8th depending on whether or not we can confirm him right after the baptism or if we have to wait for sacrament.
We were looking through our Area Book and came across a family that was almost baptized. As close as you could get. The dad had the interview he was found worthy, but at the last minute they decided not to go through with it. So we decided to go and see them some time. The Jackson family, I don't know ifI told you about them but anyway, They had to move in with their relatives and get this, their relatives were the family that almost got baptized. Neither one of them knew that the other family was a member or almost became one. Funny huh. When we knocked on the door we talked to the dad named Antonio Jackson, and asked him if he still wanted to be baptized, he said no and so we asked if he knew Kevin Jackson. He looked at us and said "Yeah, he's in the other room." We had know idea that this is where they moved too. So Kevin came out and we had a lesson on the back porch. Antonio joined us and in the middle of the lesson he said he changed his mind and wants to be baptized. We scheduled the baptism for October 15 which is almost exactly a year from when he was suppose to have gotten baptized. Kevin wasn't sure why he had to move into his brother-in-laws house and he has been feeling a little crappy lately but I believe that he was sent there to be a good example to Antonio and his family.
Another funny story. Elder Nielson and I were meeting with the Brown family. They have a hard time coming to church due to financial problems so we were kind of talking about that. After we left Brother Brown called and said that they didn't appreciate Elder Nielson's attitude towards them and that he can no longer come back to the house, but that I was more than welcomed anytime. Ha ha. But I can't go there unless Elder Nielson is with me or we go on splits and another missionary is there. So we might do that sometime. Elder Hadderly had to go home because of back problems so the Elder in Valdosta 2nd ward got a temporary companion named Elder Sumrall. He is an awesome guy. He is only 19 and can't go on a mission for another year and a half about because he works for the government and that's when his contract goes up. He graduated from high school when he was 16 and goes all over the middle east for the government because he knows Arabic. He said that if we go on splits together he'd teach me some middle eastern stuff. Pretty awesome.
I was wondering if you could send me in the next package a scripture master card or book mark or something because with my new scriptures I don't remember all the scripture masteries and I don't have them marked.
Anyway, I'm trying to think of anything else that was really neat or cool or funny that happened to me... Oh! One of the recent converts named Arthur Fillmore told us in one of the lessons we had with him that he is thinking about going back to his other church because he likes the way they rejoice and sing and stuff. He still wants to come to ours but wants to only every other week or something. When I heard this I was heart broken. He said he has been praying about it for a long time and really hard but hasn't gotten his answer yet. I hope he realizes that he's already made that decision once and the testimony he had when he first started coming was super strong, I don't know what happened.
Well I love this gospel with all my heart. I know I'm doing the right thing and I'm where the Lord wants and needs me to be. I'm loving doing missionary work when i can talk to people and get my point across that lets them understand how I feel. I would think that getting up in the mornings at 6:30 would get easier as the time goes by but I am terribly wrong. If anything it gets harder. We get up and go running and it's hard rolling out of bed when I know that back home I would be sleeping. But oh well. It's a good habit to get into so I'll do it with a smile. :) kind of like that.
Anyway, I love you all and am so proud and lucky to be in this family with such amazing people around me. You guys are the greatest and have made me who I am, and hopefully I don't do anything that makes you embarrassed that I said that. ha ha.

Thank you for the packages mother, and now I can mark up my scriptures again. Sorry, I keep forgetting to write down my address so I can give it to you. I'll do it this week though i promise.
Story time, yesterday an awesome guy name Demitrious Jones, he has dreads and is super cool became received the Aaronic Priesthood yesterday, and was ordained to the office of a priest. Cool story time now. Bishop Grant forgot to ask him who he'd like to ordain him before the meeting and so he asked during priesthood meeting. He looked around and I didn't really want to make eye contact cause I was thinking he'd just ask the bishop, but when I looked at him he was staring right at me and then he lifted his hand and pointed his finger right at me. I looked behind me hoping it was the guy behind me but then he said my name. I was pretty nervous going up there cause it was my first time doing it and everything. But then I realized I shouldn't be nervous, I have the priesthood and I am worthy to hold it and the Lord will tell me what I need to say. So to save on time, more for me than you guys cause you can get on the computer and write anytime you want, I only have an hour on Mondays, any way, to save on time, it was a great experience, so peaceful and afterward I felt silly for even thinking of being scared.
Kenneth Poer is making great progress, and he really wants to attend all the meetings of church, unfortunately they didn't make it yesterday to Church cause they were having plumbing problems, but we stopped by afterward and he apologized for not making it but he asked if there was anything else he could do besides reading the scriptures, praying, and attending church to help him be ready for his baptism. It was surprising to hear, but we quickly touched on all the commandments we've been asked to live and he mentioned the word of wisdom and how he drinks a cup of coffee everyday, but he'd be more than willing to give that up as a sacrifice to come to know Jesus Christ more, and he said that he can't even imagine joining or wanting to join another church besides this one. Pretty awesome! Sadly though, his wife doesn't have that same fire that he does. She still wants to be a member and come to church and everything but not with the same passion or fire that Kenneth has. She really only wants to go to Sacrament and that's it. Kenneth doesn't want to go on this path a lone and he really wants to have his wife join him in the waters of baptism and church attendance but he's willing to go at it a lone cause he knows it's the right thing to do.
We met a guy name Altreek (pretty sweet name huh) yesterday and we saw him a couple of days before cause he lives next door to a lady named Sister Wall. He felt impressed to go and talk to us then, and Elder Nielson and I both felt impressed to go talk to him too but sadly we didn't. But luckily we had another chance and that came yesterday. We started talking to him about what we believe and everything and then game him a Book of Mormon. After talking about it and it's origins and after he flipped through some of the pages he looks up at us and says that he knows this book came from God. No man could have written like this. It was pretty exciting. So hopefully we'll be able to work with him more and help him come to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is where he should be. He already knows that God will answer his prayers and knows that God has blessed him greatly in his life. It's pretty great.
The church is true, there is just no other way explaining some things. Jesus Christ is our savior and he died so that we may have a chance to return to live with Heavenly Father one day. I love this gospel so much and am so thankful for this opportunity to go around telling people that this gospel can bless their lives because it has blessed mine. I love you all and am so thankful for the influences of good that you have had on me, til next week converse.

It was surprising to hear, but we quickly touched on all the commandments we've been asked to live and he mentioned the word of wisdom and how he drinks a cup of coffee everyday, but he'd be more than willing to give that up as a sacrifice to come to know Jesus Christ more, and he said that he can't even imagine joining or wanting to join another church besides this one. Pretty awesome! Sadly though, his wife doesn't have that same fire that he does. She still wants to be a member and come to church and everything but not with the same passion or fire that Kenneth has. She really only wants to go to Sacrament and that's it. Kenneth doesn't want to go on this path a lone and he really wants to have his wife join him in the waters of baptism and church attendance but he's willing to go at it a lone cause he knows it's the right thing to do.
We met a guy name Altreek (pretty sweet name huh) yesterday and we saw him a couple of days before cause he lives next door to a lady named Sister Wall. He felt impressed to go and talk to us then, and Elder Nielson and I both felt impressed to go talk to him too but sadly we didn't. But luckily we had another chance and that came yesterday. We started talking to him about what we believe and everything and then game him a Book of Mormon. After talking about it and it's origins and after he flipped through some of the pages he looks up at us and says that he knows this book came from God. No man could have written like this. It was pretty exciting. So hopefully we'll be able to work with him more and help him come to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is where he should be. He already knows that God will answer his prayers and knows that God has blessed him greatly in his life. It's pretty great.
The church is true, there is just no other way explaining some things. Jesus Christ is our savior and he died so that we may have a chance to return to live with Heavenly Father one day. I love this gospel so much and am so thankful for this opportunity to go around telling people that this gospel can bless their lives because it has blessed mine. I love you all and am so thankful for the influences of good that you have had on me, til next week converse.
